Nicole Rhodes Caddell
Born and raised in sunny San Diego, Nicole grew up with an outgoing personality and a heart for people, qualities instilled by her parents, Lyle and Grace. Known for her friendly nature, she easily made friends with just about anyone. Naturally competitive, she grew up in a football and cheerleading family, following in her mom’s footsteps and discovering her first love — cheerleading. Over an 18+ year cheerleading career, Nicole worked her way onto some of the world’s most elite teams, coached by the best in the sport. In 2013, her childhood dream came true when she became a Cheerleading World Champion, proudly wearing her worlds ring on her ring finger, often saying she was "Married to the Game." Throughout her journey, Nicole credits her relationship with Jesus for guiding her path, and she continues to give all the glory to God.
Coincidentally, both Nicole and her fiancé, Blake, are alumni of Christian High School, despite attending at different times. They often joke that Nicole broke Blake’s record for the shortest time spent at the school, as she completed just one semester, while Blake also only attended for his senior year. After high school, Nicole cheered collegiately at San Diego State University before transferring to Northern Arizona University, where she became an active member of Alpha Phi Sorority and a Sweetheart of Sigma Chi Fraternity. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Communication and joined her parents in real estate.
As fate would have it, Nicole and Blake first crossed paths in the summer of 2008. Their families had become friends, leading to an epic trip to Nicole’s favorite childhood vacation home at Martinez Lake. There, Nicole and Blake bonded over music and guacamole—though Blake promptly spit it out (he's since learned to love it). Never did they think that their middle school summer fling, would end in them eventually becoming engaged, but God had immeasurably more then they could ever ask for or imagine and it’s through His grace, they get to say “I DO”.
John Blake Todd
Blake was born in Danville, VA, and raised by his wonderful mother, Melody. When he wasn't busy playing soccer, he could be found devising new ways to pick on his little brother, Grant. Their trio always found something fun to do, with the annual highlight being their trips to San Diego to visit Blake's aunt, uncle, and four cousins.
In 2010, life took a turn when Blake's mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer, prompting the family to move to San Diego to be closer to their California relatives. After Melody passed, Blake's aunt and uncle, Cami and David, stepped in to care for him and Grant.
Blake went on to attend North Greenville University and, after graduation, returned to San Diego, eager to start his career in real estate. However, after a year, life led him to Georgia, where he put his real estate dreams on hold.
Drumroll, please…
In November 2019, Blake moved back to San Diego with plans to rekindle his real estate ambitions. Little did he know, something even more magical was about to be rekindled (cue the wink).
For a brief moment, Nicole and Blake insisted they'd just be friends, but as you can see, love had other plans!
On May 22, at the picturesque Seaport Village, Blake got down on one knee and Nicole said yes!
